Environmental Education

Green Cross Japan launched the "Green Lane Diary" program in 1998, in order to build a scalable, curriculum aligned environmental education program for primary school students. Since then, each year thousands of Japanese students have benefited from this inspirational initiative which distributes "Manga" style print booklets that enable teachers to guide students through a comprehensive sustainability program over a ten week period.

The Diary is a lovely 50 page colorful resource that comes with a "Scrapbook" where students log their daily environmental activites as well as their imaginative projects that are submitted for an annual award.

Since 1998, more than 1 million Japanese students have participated in the Green Lane Diary program! Over more recent years, our offices in Korea, Sri Lanka and now Australia have joined in the program. Since our Queensland pilot in 2010, Green Cross Australia has supported more than 78,000 primary school students from over 600 schools and environment centres righta cross Australia to be part of Green Lane Diary.
